Did Munie back a winner with Futuresource?

Industry eyes were all on London's Excel this month to see if CIWM's Futuresource Show would live up to the hype and Munie.com were there to see firsthand

It's fair to say that when the CIWM announced they were moving their annual conference and show away from its home of more than 20 years in Paignton it was no great surprise. Rumours had been rife for some time that the institute were looking for a move away from the south coast. Rightly or wrongly most would be sorry to see the show go.

However the announcement that the show's new home would be London was met with surprise and was deemed fairly controversial by some in the industry. Bringers of doom soon began complaining about travel issues and the potential logistical nightmare of transporting equipment and vehicles to the heart of the capital.

So it was with baited breath that we waited for June this year to see if the CIWM's gamble had paid off. Would they be able to deliver the visitors and interest they had promised?

With a packed car we headed to London's Docklands to the Excel Exhibition Centre. To the CIWM's credit the journey was easy and uncomplicated as was the whole build-up procedure, in next to no time our exhibition stand was setup and we were ready for the show - whatever it was to bring!

The show itself turned out to be a great success. Visitor levels were very good and most of the exhibitors we spoke to were happy with the enquiries they were receiving. We would like to thank everyone that visited our stand where over the three days we gave regular live demonstrations of our online auction website and were able to talk to numerous delegates about their used fleet disposals and equipment procurement.

Munie.com will soon be starting a programme of international trade shows but our next UK show will be RWM at Birmingham NEC in September.
